Microdermabrasion, a non-surgical procedure, is the most natural way to evenly and safely exfoliate the skin without chemicals or laser. It improves texture and tone by utilizing medical grade silica-free aluminum oxide crystals (a granulated material) to safely and finely re-surface superficial layers of the skin. When a more aggressive treatment is necessary, vacuum pressure can be increased to evenly penetrate deeper layers of the skin. The loosened skin is then discarded through the hand piece, along with many blemishes, sunspots, age spots, fine lines and wrinkles.

Initially, you may feel a mild scratching sensation as the crystals make contact with the skin. As the treatments continue, this experience compares to a deep massage. Mild redness may occur for 1/2 hour to one day depending on the aggressiveness of the program. Although uncommon, some patients may experience streaking of the skin from increased blood flow, which will fade gradually over a day or two. The treatment is painless and quite relaxing, very much like a deep facial. Most patients describe the sensation of light scratches on their skin as the small crystals hit the skin. After the treatment, special toners and moisturizer creams are applied to the face and massaged. Your face may be slightly red after the treatment but it is very mild and goes away in less than an hour. There are no side effects with Microdermabrasion. However, we suggest you minimize your sun exposure and use a daily sun-block. Avoid exfoliating creams 2 days before and after treatment.
